Alice Friedman, MD recognized for exemplary teaching in community-based medical education

The UTMB School of Medicine recognized Alice Friedman, M.D., gastroenterologist with The Austin Diagnostic Clinic (ADC) for the 2016 Teacher of Distinction (Top Doctor) Award.  Dr. Friedman will be one of eleven physicians honored at the 17th Annual Award program held October 8, 2016 at Moody Gardens in Galveston, TX.

Selected from a pool of 400 active student preceptors, nominees were submitted by the School of Medicine faculty, staff, community-based committees and Area Health Education Center (AHEC) representatives.  Based on the following criteria, final selections for the award included exemplary student evaluations, time and commitment to community-based education, quality of the educational environment and participation in faculty development and community service activities.  This award puts Dr. Friedman in the top 5% of the UTMB community faculty.

Dr. Friedman joined The Austin Diagnostic Clinic in 2001.  She currently sees patients at ADC’s North Clinic in the Gastroenterology department.  She has been teaching medical students for 5 years and preceptors 6 to 8 students a year although, she may include more depending on vacations and schedules.  True to her Aggie roots,  she also works in students from Texas A&M.  Congratulations to Dr. Friedman!
