Family Practice doctors for adults

Your family practice doctor should be the primary resource for prevention and wellness measures, as well as a health educator for the whole family. The board-certified family doctors at ADC provide you with the best primary and preventive care for patients as young as 6 years old to senior adults.  Our family practitioners have offices in 4 locations in Central Texas: ADC Cedar Bend, ADC Cedar Park, ADC Circle C and ADC Steiner Ranch.  Each office offers an onsite lab and some may also include imaging  services too.  For information or appointments, contact our Call Center 24/7 at 512-901-1111 or use our online appointment request form.

What is Family Practice?

Family Practice is a board certified specialty. It requires three years of special training after a physician receives their medical degree. This training focuses on outpatient medicine and includes special training in internal medicine, pediatrics, dermatology, non-operative gynecology, minor orthopedics, psychiatry and many other specialties which allow a family physician to treat the “whole person.” Although, training covers hospital medicine, due to caring for patients in the office, ADC family practitioners do not manage patients in the hospital. Instead, hospitalists (ADC internal medicine specialists who over see patient care in the hospital) will manage your care should hospitalization be required.

What type of care should I expect from a family practice doctor?

There is no such thing as a “typical day” for a family practitioner. A family practice doctor’s schedule may include an infant’s well child check, a teenager with acne and a mole she wants removed, or a woman scheduled for her annual Pap smear and physical exam. If you are uncertain as to whether a condition you have falls within the realm of family practice please ask us.  However, if your condition falls outside of our areas of expertise, or in cases when we feel a consult from a specialist would be helpful, we will be happy to make a referral to one of ADC’s many specialty providers from Allergy to Cardiology to Urology or Surgery.
