One of the newest physicians to join The Austin Diagnostic Clinic is Dr. Linda Lopez, a pediatrician who will see patients full time at ADC Steiner Ranch when it opens in late 2013.

Education and background

Dr. Lopez grew up in San Juan, a small town in the Rio Grande Valley. After graduating high school in San Juan, she earned her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Texas Pan American, then went on to medical school at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston.

Hurricane Ike forced her to leave the island in 2008, but she was able to finish her clinical training in Austin.

She graduated from the UT Southwestern Pediatric Residency Program in Austin in 2013. She says she’s looking forward to continuing her career at ADC.

“I was met with such kindness and felt this would be the type of practice that would allow me to grow and learn while establishing myself as a pediatrician,” Dr. Lopez said. “I’m looking forward to meeting my new patients and working with my new clinical team.”

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

“Throughout high school and college, I was a dedicated dancer and practiced jazz, modern, some ballet, and flamenco,” she said. “I hope to soon start dancing again and try something new, like ballroom dance. My major hobby these days is reading and baking. I love trying new recipes and my coworkers are usually the ones to try out my new baked goods.”

What do you like about being a pediatrician?

“There are so many things I love about being a pediatrician, but the two of my favorites are meeting new families and watching my patients grow. Being able to see a baby born, and follow him through his development is truly amazing,” she said.
