In July, ADC recognized Martha Whiteley, RN and Operations Manager over a number of different departments including Podiatry, Rheumatology,  and Infusion Services. She is also the location manager for ADC Round Rock and liaison to Austin Bone & Joint and Texas Oncology.

Whiteley currently manages a staff of 44.

Originally from Detroit, Whiteley moved to Austin in 1968 and considers it her home.

She earned a B.A. in Psychology from St. Edward’s University, then worked as a statistician for the Texas Education Agency for seven years. At age 40, she returned to school to earn her degree as a registered nurse. She joined ADC in 2000.

“ADC has given me the opportunity to work with some wonderful and dedicated physicians and staff,” she said. “I feel very lucky to work with so many really wonderful staff.”

In her spare time Whiteley enjoys reading, movies, travel and spending time with her family. She says Austin has changed a lot since she first arrived, and despite the traffic headaches, much has changed for the better.

“There are great restaurants everywhere. Barton Springs, Zilker Park and Town Lake are all vastly improved,” she said. “I’ve lived in Michigan, Massachusetts, Montana and Portugal but I would choose Austin in a heartbeat. Austin is the center of the known universe – the place that everyone visits and wants to stay forever.”
