Healthy Recipe: Summer Ice Cubes

This frozen treat is a really nice alternative to sodas or even regular water. The ice cubes help to keep your drink cooler longer.

You can use any fruit you have on hand, but berries are a great addition to these cubes. Blueberries in particular are loaded with antioxidants, and they have cancer-fighting properties. But don’t forget about the rest of the berry family: raspberries, blackberries and strawberries, which are in plentiful supply in the summer. Berries are sweet and children love to eat them.

This is a great recipe to make with children. When you teach children how to cook, you are giving them lifetime skills they can carry on to their own family. You can also bond and carry on a sense of family tradition.

The ice cubes are nice with tap water or carbonated water. I like the large cubes, because you can put a lot of fruit in them.
