Flu Vaccine Differences

Two types of vaccine

Flu season is here in Central Texas.   Dr. Brenna Gerdelman, Family Practice doctor with The Austin Diagnostic Clinic Steiner Ranch explains the difference between the types of flu vaccine on the market – trivalent and quadravalent.   In this interview with KXANs Erin Cargile, Dr. Gerdelman, reminds individuals to get the flu shot.  “Flu is a highly communicable disease,” she said.   The trivalent vaccine protects against three of the most common strains of the virus and quadravalent protects against four.  If given a choice, she recommends the quadravalent vaccine, however both protect against the most common strains seen this season.
