Cynthia Bluntzer: HRM Success Story

ADC HRM patient, Cynthia Bluntzer shares her success story.

When I started The Austin Diagnostic Clinic Health Risk Management program in 2010 I simply wanted to lose weight.  Now, 3 years later, I have a very active lifestyle.

I started going to the gym to work out and try to get in shape. I started attending Spin classes for variety and met a several people who have become good friends.  One of their passions is cycling.

In March of this year, I got on a bike for the first time in more than 25 years.  I loved it!  I started riding with them on a regular basis and in August competed in my first organized ride, the “2013 Hotter’N Hell Hundred Endurance Ride” in Wichita Falls, Texas.  I finished the 25 mile route and was 42nd in my age group.  It’s the largest one-day ride in the United States and has its name for a reason! My goal for the next year is to finish my first 100-mile ride.

When I started this program, I never guessed I would be participating in a sport like cycling or going to the gym and salsa dancing, and loving it!

The life I lead today is so different than before; full of life, friendship, activity and adventure. Because of new opportunities I’ve met some great new friends and opened myself up to new experiences. I’m not the person I was back then. That Cynthia is dead and buried.

The new Cynthia loves life!
