A physician at The Austin Diagnostic Clinic has been designated as a certified menopause practitioner by the North American Menopause Society (NAMS), a leading independent, nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting women’s health and quality of life.

Mary Gasal, M.D., N.C.M.P., who practices at the ADC Menopause and Osteoporosis Center at the ADC Main Clinic, is one of only three doctors in the city—and one of just 17 doctors across the entire state of Texas—to receive this level of certification. The certification is based on completion of a comprehensive examination and is valid for three years.

“This certification confirms that Dr. Gasal has the skills and knowledge necessary to practice at an expert level in a rapidly changing field of health care,” said Ghassan Salman, M.D., Chief Medical Officer at ADC. “Most importantly, her patients will have access to the best possible care.”

Based in Mayfield Heights, Ohio, NAMS was founded in 1989 has a multidisciplinary membership of 2,000 leaders in the field of menopause—including clinical and basic science experts from medicine, nursing, sociology, psychology, anthropology, pharmacy, epidemiology, nutrition, and education.

Dr. Gasal joins Michele McDermott, M.D., N.C.M.P., who is similarly certified and is the founder of ADC’s Menopause and Osteoporosis Center.
