ADC an active member of the greater Austin community
When we’re not seeing patients, we’re out in the community, helping to spread the word about good health.
Our efforts include walks and runs, community education events, and event sponsorships.
Events
FAAN Walk
As many as 15 million people have food allergies, including 6 million children, and food allergies appear to be on the rise. With the growing concern about food allergies, ADC’s Allergy department participated in the 2011 FAAN Walk.
This nationwide walking event raised $2.4 million in 2010 for awareness, advocacy and research.
School Festivals
We believe it’s important to teach kids healthy habits.
Each year our staff and doctors visit Central Texas elementary school festivals to talk to children and their parents about making healthy lifestyle choices.
Community Education
5-2-1-0 Kids Get Healthy!
Our pediatricians are fighting childhood obesity with the 5-2-1-0 Kids Get Healthy! program. It asks kids and parents to:

- Limit screen time (TVs, computers) to 2 hours or less per day,
- Get 1 hour or more of physical activity per day, and
- Drink 0 sugar-sweetened beverages per day.
