Specialist (CNS) is an advanced practice nurse whose care
focuses on a specific patient population. A CNS can specialize
in certain types of diseases such as endocrinology,
cardiovascular disease, kidney disease, oncology,
gastroenterology, neurology, etc…
ACNS-BC is an Adult Clinical Nurse Specialist who is board
certified. ACNS-BC is a master (or doctorate) prepared
registered nurse who has become an expert in a specific area
of knowledge and practice in a selected clinical area of
nursing. They provide expert clinical practice, research,
education, consultation, and clinical leadership with an
identified patient population.
