ADC and KXAN Helping to Keep Austin Cool

Join The Austin Diagnostic Clinic and KXAN in supporting the Keep Austin Cool Campaign benefiting Family Eldercare.  Family Eldercare provides essential services for elders, adults with disabilities and those who care for them.  Donated fans are given to low income elderly, families with children, and frail neighbors who need help to beat the summer’s heat.

A donation of $12.50 covers the cost of one fan and helps save lives. In 1990, the Annual Summer Fan Drive was initiated to collect and distribute fans and air conditioners to low-income older adults, people with disabilities, and families with children in Travis and surrounding counties, and to raise funds for the provision of other essential services. Since the program’s inception, more than 23,000 households have been served with more than 55,000 fans and 600 air conditioners.  Last year ADC physicians, staff and patients raised and collected over $2500.00 and 70 fans at our drop-off locations in 2007.

With this year's early heat wave the need for fans will be urgent in the Central Texas community.  The Austin Diagnostic Clinic is proud to once again partner with Family Eldercare in this important, life-saving program.  ADC will accept donations and fans from June 1 through August 31, 2008.

ADC Supports the Central Texas Community

The Austin Diagnostic Clinic is proud to serve the Central Texas community by supporting a number of important events, including The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation Race for the Cure and the American Diabetes Association Walk for Diabetes, both taking place in November. ADC is a major financial sponsor of both events, and ADC physicians and staff are organizing teams to raise money and participate in the events.

ADC supports major community events throughout the year, including the Family Eldercare Summer Fan Drive. “We’ve supported the Family Eldercare fan drive for several years,” explains Dr. Joseph. “With our Central Texas heat, the fan drive makes a difference for thousands of elderly individuals.” This year (2007) ADC raised over $2,500 for the purchase of fans and window air conditioning units and collected over 70 fans through our drop-off locations.

Every December, ADC supports another favorite community event—the Salvation Army Angel Tree. This seasonal outreach program provides toys, clothing and food to disadvantaged families in the area. ADC has participated in the program for the last nine years. “We adopted 125 ‘angels’ in 2007,” says Dr. Joseph. “But when it comes to community involvement, our employees are the real angels.”
