ADC Travel Clinic
How to Get Medical Care Abroad

Expect the unexpected when traveling internationally.  If medical care is needed, the American Embassy or Consulate can usually provide names of hospitals, physicians, or emergency medical service agencies.   Prior to departure, contact your own insurance company regarding your coverage.
To be pro-active, take steps to minimize the risk of injury and establish a plan for dealing with medical emergencies.  If you have chronic medical conditions and/or take prescription medications, you should always carry an adequate supply.

It's also a good idea to carry a signed and dated statement from your physician indicating any major health problem in case of emergency.
You'll also need your International Certificate of Vaccination.  Because of the variable quality of health care services abroad, hospitalization and treatment may be associated with an increased risk of disease or infection.

IMPORTANT INSURANCE COVERAGE INFORMATION:  The Austin Diagnostic Travel Clinic does not file insurance with all of the insurance plans listed on our website.  Please check with the appointment representative to see if your visit will be filed with insurance.  If your visit is not covered, payment for services will be expected at the time of service.
