Renogram with Captopril

Preparation:  Patient needs to be well hydrated for this examination.  Patient should drink 2-3 glasses of water prior to their appointment.  May empty bladder as needed.  Additionally, coffee, tea, cocoa and diuretics should be avoided for 8 hours prior to the exam if at all possible. 

Medications Not to Take:  Patient should be off of ACE inhibitors for 48 hours prior to the examination.  Some of these are Accupril, Capoten, Actace, Lotensin, Monopril, Vasotec, Zestril, Capozide, Zestoretic, and Univase.  If the patient has any questions about whether or not his medications contain ACE inhibitors, he should consult with his physician and/or the physician's nurse. 

What to Bring:  Patient should bring a list of their medications

Appointment Length:  Examination time is approximately 1-1/2 hours.
