I have benefited in so many
ways from The Austin Diagnostic Clinic's Health Risk Management
program. Prior to starting ADC's HRM program I had a physical
and was fortunate to have a family doctor who was forthright
about my health and about the path I was taking.
Our family doctor has seen four
generations of my family and reminded me of our health history
after my physical. Both of my grandmothers passed away from
complications after having had strokes. My parents are both
diabetic and my father recently suffered a heart attack.
I was significantly overweight
and my lab results indicated that I had elevated blood pressure,
cholesterol and triglycerides. These results didn't take into
account the intangibles such as low energy levels and low self
esteem.
Our doctor recommended I
lose weight or I could be facing the same health issues my
grandparents and parents had faced. I made up my mind to make a
change but I was not sure what I needed to do. I had tried
dieting in the past with little success, I have always been
active and I knew from my own past experience that exercise
alone was not going to be enough to help me to lose the weight I
needed to lose.
So, I decided to go to the
source I normally go to when I have an issue I don't know how to
overcome. I prayed, asked God for direction and explained to Him
that I wanted to spend time with my grandchildren and I wanted
to know and spend time with my great grandchildren. I never knew
my grandfathers as they both passed away before I got to know
them. My dad's father passed away when he was a young man and my
mom's father passed away when I was about four years old .
Getting my good health back and having a relationship with my
grandchildren and great grandchildren was my desire. As he
always does God answered my prayer.
I was going to have a test
done at ADC and while riding in the elevator I noticed a poster
for the Health Risk Management program. I programmed the phone
number in my cell phone and called them that week to get more
information on the program. After attending orientation and
having tests run, I joined the program. From September to
February I lost 60 pounds.
I believe that attending the
weekly classes has been a significant key to my weight loss
success. Our counselors provide a substantial amount of helpful
information and support, The experiences, ideas and recipes
shared by my classmates has played a huge roll in losing weight
and maintaining my weight loss.
I have had such a positive
experience in the program. In addition to my weight loss
results, my elevated blood pressure, cholesterol and
triglycerides are all where they should be. My energy level is
back and I feel great!
I now share information on
the program and my story with co-workers, at church and any
other time I have an opportunity. I keep HRM pamphlets with me
and hand them out frequently.
I believe that the HRM program works! Just ask anyone who is or
has been in the program. This is a life changing program and I
am very fortunate and blessed to continue to be part of it.
Thank you,
