one project for a long period of time they can get
fatigued,” explains ADC Ophthalmologist
Thomas Y. Chandler,
M.D. “But there are easy ways to reduce eye strain
before it becomes a health problem.”
Computers are the most
common source of eye strain. Dr. Chandler recommends
placing your monitor away from bright lights and
sunlight to reduce reflections and glare. An anti-glare
screen can be attached to the monitor to further reduce
strain. In addition, position your monitor so your eyes
are at the top of the screen since it is easier for your
eyes to look down than up. Increasing the font size of
text and taking frequent breaks can also reduce eye
strain. “But if you are having eye strain symptoms that
won’t go away,” adds Dr. Chandler, “get your eyes
checked.”
