What is a Nephrologist?
Nephrology is the medical specialty devoted to the study of kidney function and diseases of the kidney.  A nephrologist is a medical doctor who specializes in the diseases of the kidney;  they evaluate, diagnose and treat diseases of the urinary tract and kidneys.  Kidney disease is serious, harmful and far more common than people think. Up to 20 million people in the U.S. have some form of kidney disease – that is one in every nine adult Americans.
