This
procedure involves ingesting a capsule (the size of a large
vitamin pill) that will pass naturally through your digestive
system while taking pictures of the esophagus. The images
are transmitted to sensors, which are placed with
adhesives to your abdomen, to a belt pack data recorder that
saves all of the images.
The capsule is passed by the patient into the
toilet and flushed away.
Esophageal capsule endoscopy helps your physician evaluate and
monitor diseases such as esophageal varices and Barrett’s
esophagus.
